In her work, Laura Murphy addresses opposites in society in a passionate, witty and uncompromising way and challenges us to think. Her primary medium is the body, the vertical rope is her companion and adversary at the same time. Filip Jacobson follows her rehearsals in Bristol where she creates a new production in which film and stage scenes are interwoven. Laura Murphy astutely stages her own body, which is usually read as female. She is not afraid to expose herself and the audience to challenging situations and always questions why and how something is shown on stage. With merciless taboo-breaking, Laura Murphy openly addresses female and queer sexuality and allows vulnerability to become visible as strength. Criticism and love of the circus flow seamlessly into her work.
