The film "DUCKumentary about Marija Baranauskaitė" explores the creative chaos during the Lithuanian clown's stays in Cologne and Etampes, France. After successful pieces in which she performed only for non-humans, like cellos and sofas, the artist takes on a new challenge: human audiences. The surprising epilogue follows immediately, however, as she works with ducks as performers:inside. Documentary filmmaker Filip Jacobson spans the entire process of creation, showing conceptual work, research, resting and performance. In the process, the film skillfully balances the ubiquitous question: is it pure, ingenious art or total fraud? One thought remains: Stop asking what a duck can do to you, ask how you can duck.
A film by Filip Jacobson.
Both Marija's "Sofa Project" and the "Duck Show performance" accompanied in the film were part of the prorgram of CircusDanceFestival 2023.
