Opening

The curatorial team Tim Behren, Mirjam Hildbrand and Jenny Patschovsky, opens the symposium "Re-Writing Circus":Gguest for the opening is Bettina Milz, Head of the cultural Department of the Ministry of Culture (NRW). In Germany, the encounter between contemporary dance and circus is a comparatively new phenomenon. CircusDanceFestival not only opens up unknown interdisciplinary paths, but also enlivens and networks the theoretical discourse in this field. How do we write, speak and think about contemporary circus? How are artistic forms of writing developed in practice and how is circus continually rewritten in the process? How is performative practice translated into words and what rewritings are needed? The symposium will address these and other questions in lectures, research reports, artist talks, interviews and readings.
