The Feminist Circus Initiative was founded in early 2022 to expose and counter discriminatory and sexist mechanisms in the German circus scene. This concerns many levels from parenthood as an artist to (gender) roles on stage to fairness when filling positions in institutions. With an intersectional self-image, i.e., considering the complexity of different social attributions (race, age, disability, ...) and the accompanying discrimination, the ifc is an open platform for exchange and participation. How can we free ourselves from hierarchical working and producing at the expense of physical health? How can we free ourselves from discriminatory ways of acting and working, supposedly in favour of an artistic product? Are there also positive examples in the scene? These and other questions will be addressed in the panel discussion moderated by Yolande Sommer.
