The Feminist Circus Initiative was founded in 2022 to expose and counteract discriminatory and sexist mechanisms in the German circus scene. It deals with issues such as parenthood as an artist, (gender) roles on stage and fairness when filling positions in institutions. Ifc pursues an intersectional self-understanding, that means it is committed to taking into account the complexity of different social attributions (race, age, disability, ...) and discriminations. The working meeting asks how ifc can be shaped sustainably and lives from your curiosity, participation, and the common exchange. How can we free ourselves from hierarchical working and producing at the expense of physical health? How can we free ourselves from discriminatory ways of acting and working, supposedly in favour of an artistic product? Are there positive examples in the scene that can be reported on and learned from? Let's tackle it together.
