„EZ“ means NO in Basque. EZ is an invitation to a proper YES, which is only possible when NO is also truly. „EZ“ is about pain, vulnerability, consensus and care. In the negotiation of these topics the body is literally tied up in them. What does exactly happen when a human body is consensually restrained, bound, and manipulated on stage? - A pact that makes power dynamics, shared responsibility, and the associated emotional states explicit. That works for the manipulated person, the manipulators and as well for those who (only) watch. Is there a space for shared mindfulness? Is it a ritual? Is there room for laughter? Elena Zanzu raises these and more questions while confronting the underlying and now even more emerging binaries: Active-Passive, Domination-Submission, Woman-Man, Pain-Lust, and finally Artist-Audience. But these binaries seem to dissolve in the physical, emotional and cognitive experiences that find their own paths in this performance.
