"Sofa Project" is a performance explicitly designed for sofas. Inspired by emerging shows aimed at a public formed by pets or plants, Marija Baranauskaitė goes one step further: she performs around the world for an audience without any consciousness - for sofas. Currently, there are no festivals (yet) for such an object audience. So, at this human CircusDanceFestival, the clown from Lithuania invites us to dive into her avant-garde research process. It is as interdisciplinary as it is creative. A wide range of questions wants to be considered: What relationships can people form with sofas in the first place? What distinguishes sofas from people? And: Is consciousness even necessary to be audience or a performer - and if so, how much?
