Thematic Parcours: Focus XY

What are you in the mood for? To help you navigate the festival's many performances and events, we suggest thematic itineraries. These run like different paths through the entire program and help you set your own focus when visiting the festival. Or you can just go with the flow. Either way: See you soon in the city, in the circus tent or at the outdoor stages on the festival grounds by the Rhine!

For almost twenty years, the French company XY has been shaping a special acrobatic language: the portés – mutual lifting, throwing, catching and carrying. From this physical practice, the approximately 50 acrobats are constantly developing their work as a collective. At the CircusDanceFestival, this working method can be experienced in various formats: An open-air photo exhibition with large-format images by Samuel Buton shows impressions from the work ‘Les voyages’ with special encounters in public spaces. A workshop, several introductions and a documentary film provide insights into the collective processes of the company. The guest performance ‘Möbius’ on the last weekend of the festival, in cooperation with Tanz Köln, will provide a spectacular finale.
