Young talents: Young Savages

Young Savages 2023: Verwundbar

In the festival's youth and young talent promotion section, the production by Junges Ensemble Circus Schatzinsel from Berlin deals with injuries - whether they are self-inflicted or the result of outside influence. The performers boldly ask: How many scars do and can the soul and spirit of the young generation bear? They reveal how hurtful they witness the all-present failure to address current problems as climate change, fascism, and xenophobia. But how can such 'wounds' be healed if they can be at all? With its autobiographical research and quest, the young ensemble develops its own energy to confront it all. A sensitive piece of New Circus.

KoEFFEKT provides space for an annually changing ensemble of up-and-coming artists in contemporary circus and dance. Who are WE and who are you, if not WE? These are the questions asked this year by four performers from different circus disciplines. And: What are these boxes for anyway? For six months they have dedicated themselves to researching their diversity for this project. As a result, they offer us their answers and remaining questions in one piece: "odd one in". It shows what remains of a group at all when it is always about highly individual lifelines and experiences. Does the movement of the ensemble get out of sync or does a common rhythm gradually take hold? On their journey through categories, attributions, and other boxes, KoEFFEKT bring an old juggling prop to life: the cigar box. A modern all-round genius - KoEFFEKT, who are you?

The ensemble KoEFFEKT negotiates sociability, plays with everyday communication patterns and asks the question: What does community actually mean? In "Ein Stück WeitMensch", the young performers dare to disentangle the bustle in the anthill of the everyday. Together they form a contemporary circus of movements that dances from head to toe, from the depths of the emotions to beyond the feet, high into the air. Inclusion and exclusion are explored, as well as flying and falling - a piece of WeitMensch.

Young Savages 2022: Beziehungsweise

© Cirque Intense

Cirque Intense is a unique career orientation project in Germany for school graduates who are accompanied on their way to the entrance examination for circus schools: A training year for contemporary circus in South Baden, not far from Freiburg im Breisgau and the French border.
With their sensitive combination of the most diverse disciplines of contemporary circus, the young ensemble of Cirque Intense undertakes a journey through the world of interpersonal relationships. Whether with tightrope walking, juggling, aerial and floor acrobatics, Chinese mast, clowning or Rola Bola - the 11-member ensemble always finds a way to trace the sometimes complex entanglements between individual and group on stage. The acrobats have also been inspired by biographical experiences.

2021 | nologo kollektiv: Shh

The young group around Laura Runge, Yolande Sommer and Rahel Gieselmann reflects in their piece "3xEva" their own artistic careers with a special focus on the female read body and the corresponding role concepts in children's and youth circus. The three performers met in the Cologne youth circus scene, founded the circus formation Kompanie Neun together with other young artists and are now together in a new constellation. From very personal perspectives, the three examine how their feminist values can be combined with the realities they have experienced in the (youth) circus.

Where do we meet? In the production "Im Grunde", four people search for their points of contact. Walking on together, in circles, straight ahead, back, from the front.
