Theater- und Zirkuspädagogisches Zentrum Köln
The cooperation partner for the Young Savages program and venue for the CircusDanceFestival is Latibul Cologne. A place that stands for the enthusiasm for circus and theater and passes it on - a center for cultural education as well as for teaching and practice of theater and circus pedagogy.
With its tent and room infrastructure, as well as its professional technical and organizational structure, the Latibul offers the appropriate conditions for the realization of the CircusDanceFestival and is also the location of the Cologne company Overhead Project, which organizes the festival.
Zentrum für Zeitgenössischen Tanz
The Center for Contemporary Dance, located at the Cologne University of Music and Dance (HfMT), offers qualified university courses in the fields of contemporary dance, dance education and dance studies. An important cornerstone is dance education based on sound technical knowledge, which trains creative and inquisitive dancers. As a university partner of the CircusDanceFestival, the Creation-Lab CircusDance has been hosted since 2020, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange between dance and circus students.
École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque
The École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque is a partner of the university cooperation of the CircusDanceFestival since 2021. It is one of the most prestigious international circus universities offering an officially recognized degree in circus. ESAC teaches the full and diverse range of skills that professional circus artists need today. The ESAC has become a qualified course of study in Belgium, on a par with the existing schools of fine arts, music, theater and film, as the need was recognized to include an institute of circus arts at the university level in the association of higher art schools in Brussels and Wallonia.
Bundesverband Zeitgenössischer Zirkus e.V.
The Bundesverband Zeitgenössischer Zirkus e.V. is a network and nationwide platform for contemporary circus in Germany. It acts as an umbrella organization for the most important institutions and represents the interests of professional circus artists vis-à-vis cultural policy makers, sponsors and organizers.
Zirkus ON is the creation alliance for circus arts in and from Germany. Through knowledge transfer, mentoring, residencies, presentations, production support and early connection to professional structures, Zirkus ON unites emerging circus artists, organizers, training and performance venues nationwide to promote quality, experimentation, audience development, touring, aesthetic discourse and the recognition of contemporary circus.
Zeit für Zirkus
ZEIT FÜR ZIRKUS is the Germany-wide format of the international circus festival LA NUIT DU CIRQUE.
Founded in 2019 by the French network Territoires de Cirque, La Nuit du Cirque festival also takes place in Germany every year. We join an international event that features contemporary circus in a wide variety of venues over a weekend in mid-November. In total, more than 220 performances take place in about 50 countries.
Federal Working Group Circus Pedagogy
The BAG is an association of children's and youth circus groups and circus educators in Germany. They represent the interests of hundreds of organizations, artists, educators and thousands of children and young people. They want to improve the quality of circus pedagogy as part of child and youth welfare and therefore also advocate for the recognition of circus as an independent art form. The most important goal of the BAG is to strengthen and further network circus education work in Germany.
Around About Circus
Around About Circus is a digital platform to explore contemporary circus in the performing arts.
This digital project starts from the need of creating an independent narrative dedicated to an interdisciplinary audience interested in culture with a focus on the contemporary circus art form in the performing arts sector. It creates reports and conversations with authors, professionals and festivals to stimulate and promote the international European contemporary circus scene.
As the globally active cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Goethe-Institut is committed to promoting understanding between Germany, Europe and the world. The Goethe-Institut trusts in the potential of international cultural exchange. Around 20,000 cultural events a year are created in partnership with governmental and non-governmental institutions and civil society initiatives in the host countries. Since 2023, the Goethe-Institut has become increasingly interested in contemporary circus. Together with the CircusDanceFestival, it facilitates a residency project between Germany and Finland.
Initiative Feministischer Circus
The Initiative Feminist Circus was founded in early 2022 with the aim of exposing discriminatory and sexist mechanisms in the German circus scene and creating a framework to counteract them. Discrimination in the circus scene is an issue that many people in the German-speaking circus scene notice: From parenthood as an artist, (gender) roles on stage, to fairness in circus festivals and schools. With an intersectional self-image, IfC offers an open platform for exchange and participation. The CircusDanceFestival has been interested in the work of the IfC since its foundation and supports it.
