VOICES VI: reach out - Circus and Audiences
The sixth edition of VOICES shifts its focus away from the stage and into the audience. It looks at those who attend contemporary circus events and those who do not. The focus is on the relationship between circus reception, accessibility and artistic intention. What happens between the stage and the auditorium? How do spectators experience a circus performance? What does 'dramaturgy of risk' mean? And where do feedback loops and feelings of community arise?
The festival magazine invites readers to take a closer look – and to question themselves. It encourages reflection, investigates common assumptions, and opens up spaces for new thoughts and experiences. In keeping with the festival motto “Come Closer,” participatory formats and current trends in circus production take centre stage. The magazine highlights opportunities, responsibilities, interactive strategies, and the wishes of circus artists, program managers, urban planners—and, of course, the audience itself. An invitation to come closer.
Available at the CircusDanceFestival and from May via the publisher Theater der Zeit.
